Memorial No 119 - 630 x 890 white on black marble.

IN MEMORY OF

MARIA GRANT,

SECOND WIFE OF GEORGE GRANT OF SHENLEY HILL, ESQRE

WHO WAS RELEASED FROM A STATE OF SUFFERING

ON THE 4TH. DAY OF JULY I825, IN THE 32ND. YEAR OF HER AGE.

HER REMAINS LIE WITH THOSE OF HER INFANT DAUGHTER,

(WHO DIED IN 1815) IN THE NORTHERN AISLE OF THIS CHURCH.

AS ROSE HER BABY'S SOUL THROUGH YONDER SKY,

SHE MARKED ITS RADIANT COURSE WITH LONGING EYE,

BUT INFANT HANDS IN PLEADING PRESSURE LAID

WITH SILKEN TIES THE MOUNTING SPIRIT STAYED.

YEARS ROLLED IN ANGUISH: STILL HER GENTLE BREAST

HER FLOCK ENFOLDED, AND THE PANG REPRESSED,

THAT WEARY STRIFE IS O'ER: THE TEAR RESTRAIN.

LIFE IS THE TOILSOME PANG, AND DEATH THE CHRISTIAN'S GAIN.
