On repositioning this monument an engraving was discovered, upside down,

which is probably just the result of a re-used tablet rather than having any connection with Shenley:

 

IN A VAULT UNDERNEATH THIS PEW

SCRIVENOR AND LIVERYMAN

OF THE CITY OF LONDON
